TIDAL Connect
Music streaming service Tidal has announced Tidal Connect – which they say is “first and only HiFi casting technology”.
What is TIDAL Connect?
Following in the footsteps of Apple Music with Airplay and Spotify with Spotify Connect, Tidal has released the Tidal Connect, that allows its users to stream music directly to connect devices. Users subscribed to Tidal’s Premium or
HiFi tier can now stream their favourite albums or tracks to devices in their preferred quality with the Tidal app acting as the controller.
How is it different from Spotify Connect?
The difference between these two is that Tidal offers the ability to cast music in a higher quality format such as MQA and Dolby Atmos, which is considerably better than the 320kbps bit rate which is currently offered by Spotify.
How to Use TIDAL Connect
To listen to music on TIDAL through external speakers select the content you want to play and then select the connect icon on the Now Playing page.
This will bring up a list of nearby devices to stream through. Locate your desired device and select to pair. If you are unable to find your device, make sure the device is connected to the same WiFi network you are streaming from
or in pairing mode. Once paired you can use your TIDAL app as a remote. TIDAL is compatible with select smart assistants that enable voice controls. To enable this feature you will need to link your TIDAL account with your selected
smart device.* This option can normally be found in the Settings section of your respective Smart Devices app.learnmore
